How to Maintain Good Dental Health ?

A good dental regime is the best way to maintain good dental health. Practicing them every day helps to keep away from dental diseases.

Listed below are the best components of a good dental regime.

Brushing your teeth

Brushing your teeth at least twice a day is the most important part of your oral hygiene routine. Plaque can build up on the surface of your teeth within just a few hours of eating, so brushing your teeth right after eating or drinking can help remove plaque before it can build up. However, brushing alone will not remove plaque from between your teeth. This is why flossing is also important.

Flossing

The American Dental Association recommends flossing your teeth as it helps remove plaque that collects between your teeth. When flossing, slide the floss between your teeth and along the gum line. As the floss reaches the gum line, curve it into a C shape against one tooth and gently slide it up and down several times to clean the tooth. Repeat this process for each tooth.

Rinsing with an antimicrobial mouthwash

After you’ve brushed your teeth, you’ll want to rinse your mouth out with an antimicrobial mouthwash. It contains ingredients that kill bacteria in your mouth. These bacteria can cause tooth decay and gum disease.  You can gargle with antimicrobial mouthwash for 30 seconds to a minute. Spit out the mouthwash after you’ve used it.

Get fluoride treatments from your dentist.

Fluoride treatments at your dentist’s office are one of the best ways to ensure you’re getting enough fluoride for healthy teeth. Your dentist will paint fluoride varnish on your teeth, which is absorbed quickly and provides a long-lasting source of fluoride.

Eat a healthy diet

Good nutrition promotes good dental health. When consumed, sugars are converted to acids that attack tooth enamel. These acids create cavities or holes in the teeth and can cause tooth decay. Diets high in sugar increase the risk of developing tooth decay.

Regular Dental Checkups

We recommend coming in for checkups every six months to keep your teeth and gums healthy. This allows spot potential problems early when they can be addressed with less invasive procedures.
